Asia’s largest Christian gathering ‘Maraman Convention’ begins

Pathanamthitta (Kerala), Feb 12: Maraman Convention, an eight-day largest Christian gathering in Asia, began with religious flavour at Kozhencherry as thousands of believers thronged into the sandbed of river Pamba.

Mar Thoma Church supremo Joseph Mar Thoma Metropolitan who delivered the inaugural address of the 124th Maraman Convention on Sunday urged believers to follow the path of Christ who was the human face of the God.

The inaugurual function presided over by Yuyakkim Mar Coorilose. Opposition leader in Kerala Assembly Ramesh Chennithala, Central Minister Alphonse Kannanthanam, Former Rajya Sabha Deputy Speaker Prof P J Kurien were present.

Anto Antony, MP, Kodikkunnil Suresh, MP, Adoor Prakash, MLA, Mathew T Thomas, MLA and Saji Cherian, MLA, also attended the event.

For the first time in the history of Maraman Convention, the night session was cancelled this time.The eight-day long Convention would conclude on February 17. (UNI)
