In a major reshuffle at the bureaucratic level, Kerala Government today removed Tomin J Thachankary from the post of managing director of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC). He is to be replaced by Ernakulam city police commissioner MP Dinesh.
The decision was taken at the Cabinet meeting. The move comes in the backdrop of trade unions in the corporation turning their ire against the MD. He has been accused of being responsible for seeing over 3,000 empanelled staff lose their job. Unions have been against several initiatives of Thachankary to turn around the corporation that recently created history by reporting profit.
It was possible to pay January salaries from its own revenue for the first time in 25 years.
Dr V Venu will be the new revenue secretary as . PH Kurian retires this month.
