Pennews

The SFI leader and key accused in beating up traffic police at Palayam more than a month ago finally surrendered. Muhammad Nazeem, who surrendered at the Cantonment police station, had been absconding since December 12.

He resurfaced and was in public glare at a recent function attended by two Ministers, AK Balan and KT Jaleel in the state capital.

Nazeem was part of a group that beat up two traffic police officers at Palayam when they were questioned for violating traffic signal rules. The CCTV visuals showed the team led by Nazeem beating up the two officers who were later hospitalised.

Cases were registered against six youths of who four surrendered. While one is still absconding, Nazeem's presence at the meeting was covered by the media, forcing him to surrender.
