Kanaka Durga, one of the first women who visited Sabarimala despite she was at menstruating age, was attacked by her mother-in-law.
Kanaka Durga, 39, had returned home this morning after nearly two weeks in hiding because of threats by right-wing protesters. It was reportedly said that she was hit on her head by her mother-in-law. Her condition is now stable.
Kanaka Durga, along with 40-year-old Bindu Ammini, made history by becoming the first women below 50 in decades to enter Sabarimala temple. Both Kanaka Durga and Bindu had visited Sabarimala on January 2.
