Taking a U-turn from his early stands, Congress President Rahul Gandhi said on Saturday that Sabarimala traditions should be protected while protecting the women's rights.
While speaking at a press meet during his 2-day UAE tour, Rahul Gandhi said that he sees valid points on both sides as far as Sabarimala is concerned.
"Let people of Kerala take a stand on the issue. Only when I spoke to Kerala leaders I got a different view on the Sabarimala issue. ," Rahul said.
Earlier, Rahuld had upheld the Supreme Court verdict of women of all ages should be permitted to enter Sabarimala Temple. Earlier in October, the Congress president put the Congress leaders of Kerala on the defensive by stating that he supported the entry of women into the temple. However, the Congress leadership including Ramesh Chennithala had decided to rally behind the devotees, opposing the verdict of Supreme Court on Sabarimala.
