Thiruvananthapuram: Gearing Up for General Election 2019, the Congress National leadership is planning to release its candidate list as early as February last week. As part of this move , the Congress High Command has directed the District Congress Committees(DCC) to submit a list of leaders ‘with high win probabilities’ before 20th of February to the respective party state headquarters. This was disclosed in the KPCC general body meeting by party state unit president Mullappally Ramachandran. Winning possibility should be the only criterion for party candidacy. For the preparation of the list, the DCCs have to consult with the lower units of the party. High Command also directed party state units to revive its mass contact programmes and ideological propaganda soon.
Congress Senior leader and working committee member A.K.Antony, while inaugurating the meeting told the party leaders that there will be no candidate selection on the basis of group loyalty. Rahul Gandhi is the only political opponent that Prime Minister Modi really fears to take on. Though, Congress alone can’t resist BJP from coming to power again yet Congress still remains as the biggest political force in the fight against BJP –Antony pointed out. Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala, AICC General Secretary K.C.Venugopal and leaders of KPCC attended the meeting.
