Case against journalist Libi for hurting religious sentiments over Sabarimala

Agency News

Kochi: Ernakulam Central Police have registered a case against C S Libi, a journalist and native of Cherthala, for allegedly attempting to hurt religious sentiments through social media posts.

Libi was in the news last month for attempting to visit Sabarimala temple on the basis of the Supreme Court verdict allowing women in the child-bearing age to visit the temple.

Police filed a case against Renjith Sinik Sivan, an online media reporter, also based on a complaint filed at Ernakulam Central police station by CS Sumesh, working president of Peoples Legal Welfare Forum. Sumesh also lodged a complaint at the CJM court in Ernakulam.

The court handed over the complaint to the police to take further actions.
The complainant alleged that that Libi and Renjith through their Facebook posts had insulted Ayyappa devotees and maligned Hinduism.
