Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Friday has granted bail to K Surendran, BJP state general secretary who was in police custody for the last three weeks for breaking a security cordon at Sabarimala.
The court also slapped Rs. two lakh as surety amount for bail and banned him from entering Pathanamthitta district as a precautionary measure to keep him away from Sabarimala this season.
Surendran was taken into police custody on November 17 for breaking a security cordon at Sannidhanam and blocking a 52-year old woman from entering the temple. He was later given a jail term of 20 days as the police reopened 15 other previous cases registered against him for various offenses.
The government counsel had argued not to grant bail for Surendran.
