Ban at Sabarimala can continue, says HC; appoints 3-member panel to oversee activities

Kerala high court has ruled in favour of continuing the prohibitory order declared at Sabarimala. It gave an interim order in this regard.

The Devaswom Division Bench of the court also ordered on Tuesday against protests at Sannidhanam.

It appointed a three-member committee of retired judges PR Raman and S Sirijagan and top police official A Hemachandran to observe the activities at the shrine during this Mandalam season.

The Bench also wanted police to perform their duties in a respectful manner.
KSRTC buses were supposed to conduct timely services in a consistent manner. Basic amenities like food and water should be provided to pilgrims.

Earlier, the Advocate General presented in detail about all the incidents at Sabarimala till date. He submitted a plan on arranging security in case any young woman came to the temple.

The court observed that women, children and disabled persons should be allowed to stay at the Nadapanthal with barricades to ensure separate space for them. Namajapan should not be stopped, it added.
