Thiruvananthapuram: Former judge of High Court Kemal Pasha said the ignorance of women was a major hurdle for entry of women in Sabarimala.
Taking a leaf out of history, he said about 16,000 women staged a protest to bring back ‘Sati’. What if similar protests were held now, he asked, while releasing a book by novelist V Radhakrishnan.
Recounting an incident from Kerala history, Kemal Pasha said that when a woman tried to cover her breasts, there were incidents of other women isolating her. “Such incidents are the result of women’s ignorance. We see the same ignorance in Sabarimala as well,” he added.
“Women are the enemies of women. They see other women in a shade of disgrace. Sabarimala is symbol of secularism and any devotee who possesses an ‘irumudikkettu’ can visit Sabarimala and there had to be timely change of rituals. Today’s ritual maybe tomorrow’s stupidity, “ he added.
