BJP Kerala president PS Sreedharan Pillai has been booked by Kozhikode police for his controversial remark that he told the Sabarimala tantri to shut down the 'sanctum sanctorum' if any woman entered the temple.
The video of Pillai’s controversial remark at a Yuva Morcha convention in Kozhikkode had gone viral. He also allegedly told the tantri that this action would not be deemed contempt of court and his party and devotees would stand by him.
Police registered the case under Section 505(1) (b) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which deals with public statements that could instill fear among people and incite violence against the State.
The case has been registered based on a petition filed by Shybin Nanminda, a journalist based in Kozhikkode. It was filed on Novermber 5, the day on which the video of Pillai's speech went viral.
