BJP Kerala president PS Sreedharan Pillai has accused the Kerala Government of gross human rights violation through the deployment of massive police force at Sabarimala.
He said a complaint had been filed with the National Human Rights Commission as pilgrims were denied basic rights like freedom to move freely or rooms. They were denied proper drinking water and also a 'peaceful' darshan of the deity.
The matter had also been taken up with the Governor, Pillai said. He accused the CPM of making a bid to do away with customs and rituals which was on the basis of a decision taken during the Coimbatore party congress.
Separately, Travancore Devaswom Board proposes to initiate a probe into RSS leader Valsan Thillankeri standing on the holy 18th sept without carrying the traditional ‘irumudikkettu’ (the pouch of puja offerings and the ghee-filled coconut). He had turned his back to the deity, violating traditions, and protesting.
Board member K. P. Sankaradas said protest against rituals and traditions were undertaken defying them, he added.
