It is a 5,000-strong police contingent right from the base camp of Nilackal to the shrine at Sannidhanam in the wake of intelligence reports of the BJP-RSS set for a crackdown. As a precaution, prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC were clamped on Pamba, Nilakkal, Elavunkal and Sannidhanam from Saturday midnight up to November 6 midnight.
It is the second time that the temple has opened after the Supreme Court vedict allowed women of all ages to enter the shrine. The shrine will close at 10 pm on Tuesday after the rituals.
