Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 2: Sabarimala Ayyappa Seva Samajam (SASS) has offered 100 buses to Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) to operate free services between Nilakkal and Pamba during the upcomg two-month pilgrimage season at Lord Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala.
However, the TDB is yet to respond to the offer from the SASS, which is also planning to move court to see that their offer is accepted.
The Samajam took a decision in this regard citing exorbitant rate levied by Government-owned Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) from Ayyappa pilgrims between Nilackal and Pamba, SASS National General Secretary Erode N Rajan said here.
"In this regard we have consulted various organizations including Private Bus Operators from neighbouring Southern States also. All of them have responded positively and the discussion we had with them, it can be assured that SASS can provide a minimum of 100 buses to TDB to operate free service between Nilackal and Pamba for Ayyappa devotees," he added.
In a letter to TDB President A Padmakumar, N Rajan urged him to accept the offer of vehicles with drivers and operate the same between Nilackal and Pamba offering free travel to Ayyappa devotees.
If TDB accepts the offer, the debt-ridden KSRTC could face a serious financial crisis as festival season in Sabarimala contributes major revenue for the Corporation. (UNI)
