Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 2: Miscreants vandalized a local office of Nair Service Society (NSS) which represents the interest of Hindu Nair Community, and placed a wreath in the spot in the name of NSS General Secretary G Sukumaran Nair as a warning for his stand against the SC order on women entry in Sabarimala temple.
The NSS has been conducting prayer meetings against the SC verdict and strongly criticizing the Pinarayi Government for its hasty move to implement the SC order allowing the entry of women between the ages of 10-50 into the Lord Ayyappa temple.
The miscreants also broke the windowpanes of Chattampi Swami Memorial building in front of the NSS office at Pappanamkode Melankode near here. Reacting to the incident, NSS General Secretary G Sukumaran Nair said the people who are in power were trying to polarize people on the bases of caste and instigating violence.
NSS, which also filed a review petition in SC on women entry issue, will fight to protect the customs and traditions of Sabarimala. He also criticized a Government order, allowing reservation for economically backward in upper caste organizations, was aimed at creating enmity between caste organizations and breaking unity of Hindus on the Sabarimala issue.
