Nothing can stop Poonjar legislator from unleashing diatribe. He did it again today saying the sexual abuse charges being raised by the nun against Jalandhar bishop Franco Mulakkal were only to ‘tarnish the image of priests and the Church’.
At a press meet in Thiruvananthapuram, he accused organisations behind pushing the nun into making such accusations.
George said the nun who claimed she was abused could not continue to be in that position and should leave the convent. "Nunhood must be only for those who can mentally and physically be part of such a dedicated cause.” it was high time the Church reviewed things and fixed a higher age for someone to become a nun, he added.
He also took on the protest by nuns and said only six of them were participating in this when some others had complaints. He also made a dig at their protest which should have been outside the Secretariat and not the High Court.
He said he had withdrawn the remark (prostitute) against the nun out of decency and stood by other comments. He said she turned against the bishop when she was removed from a top post in the congregation.
He added that he did not have a high opinion about bishop Franco.
Does not spare Gadgil
George accused environmentalist Madhav Gadgil of being an 'American agent’.
He said Gadgil was getting commission for generating carbon credits. As Gadgil had filed a case against him for making such a remark earlier, he was prepared to take on him in court.
