Agartala, Aug 21: The BJP-IPFT government in Tripura has announced a financial aid of rupees once crore to Kerala, which is hit by a massive flood that has claimed several lives and caused widespread destruction in the past a week. On the other, Chief Justice of High Court of Tripura, has taken a special initiative to support the flood victims of Kerala contributing one-day salary.
Officials here today said that the council of ministers in an urgent meeting last night paid homage to former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee and remembered his contribution to the development of Northeast as well as the vision for a new nation.
The meeting has also discussed the devastating flood situation in Kerala and decided to provide financial assistance of rupees one crore to the flood victims, officials said adding that the amount would be sent to Kerala government for flood relief.
The council of ministers has also expressed profound grief and sorrow at the unprecedented floods that caused huge damage in Kerala claiming several lives. The government has also sent a message to it’s counterpart that Tripura would be remain standing with Kerala to manage the situation.
On the other, Chief Justice of High Court of Tripura, has taken a special initiative to support the flood victims of Kerala contributing one-day salary. One-day salary of the Chief Justice and sitting judges along with all judicial officers and staff members of the High Court and District Judiciary would donate to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund of Kerala.
In a statement issued from High Court of Tripura said that the state of Kerala and its people have been facing the devastation and distress caused by the unprecedented flood situation. As the fellow countrymen, we share the pain and agony of the people of Kerala as a humble gesture. The contribution will stand at around Rs 16 lakh. (UNI)
