The Kerala police team is learnt to have received crucial evidence against Jalandhar bishop Franco Mulakkal today in the case against him of raping a nun.
The team was yet to question the bishop and there was likelihood of his arrest soon.
Besides four priests of Jalandhar diocese who were questioned yesterday and told the police about the problems the victim faced because of bishop Franco, the team today quizzed nuns of the Missionaries of Jesus.
Evidence was collected earlier from Missionaries of Charities mother superior Regina.
The nuns were reported to have given statements about the “highly unacceptable behaviour” of the bishop, especially at the monthly prayer gathering ‘A day with the shepherd’.
Besides, the bishop is said to have held special sessions with the nuns some of who were to forced to meet him separately at the Bishop House in the evenings in his room.
The nuns even were said to have told the team that the invitations would at times come late at night.
The diocese had made a call for parishioners to gather outside the Bishop House. The probe team had sought the assistance of the Punjab Armed Police. There was likelihood of the bishop being summoned to police office.
It has been nearly two months since the nun raised the charge against the bishop. She had accused him of raping her 13 times.
