Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 9: Kerala Health Minister K K Shailaja Teacher on Thursday directed health department officials to be on alert following the heavy rain and landslides that hit several districts in the state.
To prevent spreading of infectious diseases due to rain, the Minister directed both the Health department and Medical Education department directors to take all the necessary precautions including equipping health centres with sufficient medicines and treatment facilities.
Special medical teams were arranged in landslide-hit areas. District Medical officers and program managers are arranging sufficient medical facilities in each district.
In view of the trial run conducted at Idukki reservoir, medical teams are deployed in the near by areas, the Minister said in a statement here. (UNI)
