Kasaragod, Aug 6: A CPI(M) worker was stabbed to death at Uppala in this district on Sunday night.
The victim was identified as Aboobacker Siddique (25) hailing from Sonkal in Uppala.According to police, Siddhique was attacked by a gang who arrived on motorbikes around 11 pm last night.
The CPI(M) alleged that BJP-RSS workers were behind the murder and the party called for a hartal in Manjeswaram taluk on Monday afternoon. The local police has identified Aswanth, a local BJP worker as the prime accused in the case. According to the police, Aswanth along with 2 others confronted Sidiq and attacked him with a sharp weapon.
Aboobacker Siddique sustained deep wounds on his stomach and chest, injuring his internal organs. Though Aboobacker Siddique was rushed to the hospital, he died on the way. His body has been shifted to Pariyaram Medical College for postmortem.
A special police team, headed by Manjeswaram DySP M V Sukumaran, has been constituted to probe the incident, police added. (UNI)
