Abhimanyu murder: CPIM is blamed for protecting killers

Accusing fingers are being pointed towards the CPIM over the police inability to nab the culprits even after eleven days of Abhimanyu's murder. CCTV footage clearly showed a gang of 20 people behind the murder of Abhimanyu, an SFI leader of Maharajas College, Ernakulam. CPIM leaders had admitted that it was a ‘Taliban model’ murder. Even though, Police have intensified the investigation by extending it to the nearby states, till now the main culprits are at large.

Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala had alleged two days back about the link of CPIM behind the police incapability. The latest shocking accusation has come from inside the CPIM itself. N.P. Jessy, wife of CPIM MLA John Fernandez, shared a missive on Facebook and her FB post has been widely discussing in media. In her Facebook post, Jessy indirectly indicates the link of CPIM in protecting the killers of Abhimanyu.

She also blamed that in the Western Kochi, SDPI workers have infiltrated in almost all mainstream political parties. "SDPI is being helped by the political leaders belong to the mainstream parties and they were behind the escape of the killers of Abhimanyu," she said.

"Party (CPIM) should investigate who have protected Abhimanyu killers. It is a give and take beyond the sincere political activities," she said.

Her Facebook post left the party workers in frenzy, Jessy later explained that she did not directly mean that Abhimanyu's killers were protected by CPIM. "But it was the apprehension of a close friend who shared this shocking fact over the phone," she said. "I don't know whether this allegation is right or wrong. But in Kochi, SDPI have infiltrated in all political parties is a fact beyond doubt," she said.

"Hindu fundamentalists have recently encroached the land of the Amaravathy Government UP School. Some local party leaders (CPIM) helped them and they got lakhs of rupees in return," Jessy also quotes her friend in her FB post.

When her Facebook post turned into a political hot potato she immediately removed the post on Wednesday.

It is learnt that the district committee of CPIM have discussed the issue and decided to conduct an inquiry into it. Jessy said that her friend wanted Fernandez (her husband) to take the initiative to end the communal appeasement by a section of party leaders in West Kochi.

Jessy's husband, John Fernandez MLA is also the district committee member of CPIM. Jessy is a former state committee member of DYFI, the youth wing of CPIM.
