Vijayawada, May 26 : After nearly two-and-half months suspension of all domestic flight services due to lockdown, the flight services resumed in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday.
A flight took off to Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru from the Gannavaram airport with passengers this morning. The passengers reached the airport two hours before the departure time and underwent thermal scanning and tests at the Airport. Vijayawada Sub-collector Dyan Chand inspected the Gannavaram Airport and monitored the implementation of preventive measures.
Airport sources said that flights from the Gannavaram Airport and from the Visakhapatnam airport would be operated to Bangalore, Delhi and Chennai. Gannavaram Airport Director Madhusudan Rao told the media that the Air passengers were advised to reach the Airport two hours early so that they could undergo the needed tests.
The officials have arranged special buses for the passengers arriving at the Airport to shift them to quarantine. Passengers at the Gannavaram Airport told the media that they were asked to undergo quarantine themselves at their houses after undergoing the required tests. The officials allowed the passengers into the Airport after checking the Arogya Setu app, the passengers said. Though the flight services had resumed on Monday across the country, the same was resumed in AP today as the State government halted them due to some technical grounds. (UNI)
