Kalaburgi, May 24 : As many as 12 new cases reported in Kalaburgi and Yadgir districts on Sunday.
According to health bulletin, all the positive cases have recently returned from neighbouring Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. Of the fresh cases, Kalaburgi and Yadgir districts registered six cases each.
The out of state returnees have been kept under institutional quarantine. With the six cases Kalaburgi's toll surged to 141 so far. Among the six cases in Yadgir district, which has the highest number of migrant workers in the state, all have a travel history to Maharashtra and returned to the district recently. With the fresh cases, the district recorded 93 positive cases so far.
As many as 10 persons have preliminary and 52 people have secondary contact with these 6 persons. So far, officials have sent 117 samples for examination. The district administration has established 220 institutional quarantine centres across the district and kept 12,991 persons under observation , Yadgir health office source added (UNI)
