Malpe, May 20 : Six fishermen were rescued after their boat sank after hitting a rock by accident while returning to Malpe port after deep-sea fishing. The boat, Sri Swarna raj, left the port on May 14. On May 19 at about 10:30 pm, the boat was about 6 km from Malpe port on its return when it’s steering broke. officials at Malpe port said on Wednesday.
The uncontrolled boat, pushed by the winds and waves, hit a rock and the water gushed in as the boat was damaged. Another boat, Pandarthi Tirtha, which nearby came to the rescue of the fishermen on board. Attempts to salvage the sinking boat by the boat Sri Charana were unsuccessful. (UNI)
