COVID-19: Seven Check Posts set up in DK to check infiltration

Mangaluru,May 4 : To monitor those coming from outside to Dakshina Kannada district, the administration has set up seven check-posts at Talapady, Hejamady, Gundya, Jalsoor, Charmadi, Naravi and Kallugundi, Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh said.

According to her, all those who enter the district would be screened and those who come from neighbouring districts and states would be asked to remain in quarantine. As the relaxation is announced for 12 hours, the public should be cautious while venturing out of the house. Wearing a mask in public is mandatory in addition to maintaining social distance, she said. She added that of the 24 cases reported in the district, only four had symptoms of breathlessness and others were asymptomatic.

Of the nine active cases, the condition of one patient is serious while two are likely to be discharged. Meanwhile the normal life in Udupi district is returning to normalcy with usual traffic and all roads were opened for the movement of all types of vehicles. Electronic shops, including mobile phones showrooms in the district, would be open from 0700 hrs to 1300 hrs. However, none of the shops could keep their air conditioner on. Only 10 employees were allowed to work at electronics shops and only 10 buyers could be allowed in the shop at a time.

In clothing shops its 25 employees and 25 buyers. ''Shops can allow buyers to enter only after the same number of them have left the shop. Accordingly, shops should make waiting arrangements. If any shop is found violating these regulations and social distancing norms then strict action will be taken against such shops,'' Udupi Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha said. (UNI)
