Bengaluru, May 3: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, former Primer Minister HD Devegowda, former Chief Ministers HD Kumaraswamy and , K Siddaramaiah, leaders of various political parties mourned the death of well-known Kannada writer and poet KS Nisar Ahmed.
MrYediyurappa noted that Ahmed contributed some of the best works in all genres of Kannada literature. He has won many accolades including Padma Shri, Karnataka Sahitya Award and Pampa Award. He had special bonding with Shivamogga as he worked there for some years. He was also the president of the 73rd Kannada SahithyaSammelana held in Shivamogga.
The Chief Minister described Ahmed's death as an "irreparable loss" to the State and Kannada literary world. Minister R Ashok, condoling the death of MrNisar Ahmed, announced that the last rites will be held with full State honours tomorrow. MrAskhok disclosed that the State government had decided to create Nisar Ahmed Trust and sanction 2.20 acres of land to the Trust at Chikkaballapur.
A Cabinet decision in this regard was expected to be taken in the next meeting. Legislative Assembly Speaker VishveshwaraHegdeKageri, Minister for Agriculture, Kannada Development Authority Chairman T S Nagabarana, KPCC President and former Minister D K Shivakumar, were among others who condoled death of Ahmed.
