Kalaburagi, Apr 24: The Kalaburagi District, the most backward in the Kalyan-Karnataka region, is experiencing severe heat condition besides Corona threat which has already claimed 3 lives including a 76 year-old man who was the first victim of the dreaded Coronavirus in the Country.
The District has recorded State’s maximum temperature of 42.7 degrees Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). According to the weather office,the region and Bombay-Karnataka region continued to be under severe heat condition with the mercury rising at an alarming level in most parts of the region. The IMD officials said that Kalaburagi and Raichur recorded the State’s maximum temperature of 42.7 and 42.5 degrees Celsius on Friday, while Bidar ,Vijayapura recorded a maximum temperature of 42.0 degrees Celsius.
The night temperature also continued to be oppressive with Raichur recording 30 degrees Celsius, Kalaburagi 29 degrees Celsius and Vijayapura 28 degrees Celsius. Other parts of the Kalyan-Karnataka region, including Ballari and Koppal were also under the spell of heat wave conditions with both the regions recording 40 degrees Celsius maximum temperatures.
