Corona cases in Karnataka surges to 395

Bengaluru, Apr 20: With five more fresh cases surfacing, all from Kalaburagi district, the total number of novel Coronavirus infected persons, in Karnataka climbed to 395 on Monday.

According to official sources, of the five new cases, three patients had reportedly had connection with the religious congregation held at Nizamuddin Delhi, recently. In Karnataka, so far as many as 111 COVIC-19 contracted persons, have been completely cured and discharged from the hospital. Meanwhile, the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President D K Shivakumar, has condemned the incident of an attack on the health workers and policemen, involved in preventing the spread of the deadly disease, at Padarayanapura area in the city last night.

Speaking to newsmen, after holding a meeting with the Congress leaders from the Minority community, here on Monday, the KPCC president said that "Congress is with the state government in containing the spread of the COVID-19 virus and any attempt to targeting the healthcare workers can not be tolerated".

"We will with the state government as for as its efforts to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 disease and enforcing the lockdown order" he said. The KPCC president, however, took exception over some of the BJP leaders, including some ministers, tagging the incident of attack by some miscreants to a particular community. He also appealed the Chief minister B S Yediyurappa, to prevail upon his council of ministers on the issue. It may be recalled that last night, a mob, had attacked health workers, who had gone to Padarayanapura area to prevent the spread the virus. Some miscreants, had ransacked the Police post and also chased away the health workers including, Asha workers, late last night. The State Police, had arrested as many as 54 persons, into the incident. (UNI)
