Mangaluru, Mar 26: Dakshina Kannada district administration has suspended retail sales at the market and directed that the public will not be allowed to purchase at the central market from Thursday (March 26).
Proper arrangements have been made for the public to buy from nearby grocery shops from 6am till 12 noon. The district administration has also advised public to follow social distancing measures.
''Taking into account the surge of COVID cases, it has been decided to suspend retail sales at the central market and public will not be allowed at the central market. Proper arrangements have been made for the public to buy from nearby grocery shops from 6 am till 12 noon,'' tweeted district administration.
''Strict social distancing has to be ensured by the vendors, failing which action will be taken. The public are advised to follow social distancing measures. Stay home to stay safe,'' district administration said in another tweet.
City Commissioner of Police P S Harsha tweeted that no vehicle carrying essential supplies is be stopped anywhere.
''We have ensured that no vehicle carrying essential supplies are stopped anywhere & if you have any issue report to 1077 or police on 9480802300,'' he added.
Police have also released the list of home quarantined people and have appealed to the public to report to 1077 or police on 9480802300 if any one of the affected comes out out of their safe zone or violates quarantine rules.
Dakshina Kannada has reported 51 coronavirus positive cases so far.(UNI)
