Madikeri, Feb 8 : Kodagu district authorities have sounded an alert regarding the novel Coronavirus by cautioning the people to be alert about travellers, visiting the hill district. The Kodagu Health Department on Friday said it will ask all visitors, especially those coming from China, to share information about their health status and check them for the symptoms of coronavirus.
They also assured the people that all information shared with them will be kept confidential. District Health Officer Mr Mohan said the department had taken all necessary precautions for the prevention and control of the disease in the district.
He said the visitors can provide information, in case they feel they are suffering from any of the symptoms in the wake of the virus scare, on their own in a prescribed format. Deputy Commissioner Annies Kanmani Joy released posters to spread awareness about the 2019 nCoV in Madikeri. These posters will be pasted across the town, to educate the public about the virus.
The district health officer was also present during the release. Authorities have stepped up surveillance in the border towns of Karike, Kutta and Makutta with Kerala, which has confirmed three positive cases. (UNI)
