Two get 20 years imprisonment for raping minor in Karnataka

Udupi, Nov 27 : A District Special Court in Karnataka has sentenced two youths to 20 years imprisonment for sexually assaulting a minor girl and threatening her with life thereafter.

The court convicted Mukesh Mali (20) and Padam Singh (28), natives of Rajasthan, on Tuesday, for raping a minor girl on the outskirts of Udupi City.

Both the accused were working in a Tile factory and staying at a rented house near Badagabettu, Udupi.

The family of the 15-year-old victim was staying in the outskirts of Udupi City. The girl’s father was also working in the same tile factory where the accused worked. The accused had befriended the girl and used visit her house frequently.

On July 8, 2016, both the accused went to the victim’s house and knocked at the door. When the girl opened the door, they kidnapped her and later sexually assaulted her.

The duo then threatened her with life if she revealed the incident. The girl later apprised her parents and told them the fact. The parents then admitted the girl to the Udupi women and child hospital.

A case was registered in the Udupi Women's Police station. The medical test confirmed that the girl was sexually assaulted after which both the accused were arrested by the police. (UNI)
