Mangaluru, Oct 24 : District Disaster Management Authority on Thursday issued a red alert forecasting heavy rains in coastal Karnataka and parts of Kerala.
The Authority stated that the rain in Coastal Karnataka and parts of Kerala is likely to continue for another two days. The rain lashed the coast is followed by the variance in air pressure in Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep, it added.
District Disaster Management Authority has extended the red-alert in Dakshina Kannada for another two days and has advised fishermen and public not to venture into the sea for fishing or picnicking near water bodies during the period.
Although rain in Mangalore remained consistent but calm, parts of Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada and Kasargod Districts witnessed torrential rains since Thursday morning.(UNI)
