Mysuru, Oct 7: Chief Minister BS Yeddiyurappa on Monday said that the state government could not increase the flood relief assistance at present as the situation is severe across the state.
He told media that the increase of the compensation would be taken up after the Dasara festivities besides additional amount would be allocated in the next budget.
Stating that the Union Government had released Rs 1200 crores of financial assistance as first installment, he said the state government is expecting more funds very soon. The released funds will be utilised for the crop loss and construction of the houses in the affected areas across the state, he added.
While greeting the people on the occasion of Dasara and Vijayadasami, Chief Minister said the Dasara festivities were in the final stage and hoped the participation of people in large numbers including tourists.
Mr Yeddiyurappa was in the city to participate in the grand finale procession and torch light parade of concluding event of the festivals tomorrow. (UNI)
