Honey trap case: Six held in K’taka

Madikeri, Sep 28: Six people, including a girl student, were arrested in connection with a honey trap case here, police said on Saturday.

The alleged accuseds were identified as Muhammed Azaruddin (24), Aboobakar Siddique (33), Hussainar (27), Irshad Ali (27) and A A Samir (28), all belonging from Emmemadu village of Madikeri.

A second year B Com girl student, resident of Bhuvanagiri, Koodige, was also arrested, police further said. Superintendent of Police Suman D Pennekar revealed that four people, including the mastermind behind the crime, were absconding.

According to her, one Gafur, who is a native of Emmemadu and a resident of Dubai, had come to his native to construct a new house. Knowing about the same, Karim and Azaruddin took Gafur in a car on August 16 on the pretext of purchasing some electronic equipment from Mysuru.

On the way, they took Gafur to a homestay in Mysuru and he was intoxicated with drugs. They later made him pose with a girl student in a compromising position and recorded a video. They threatened Gafur that the video would be made viral if he did not pay Rs 50 lakh to them.

Later Gafur was released after paying Rs 3.80 lakh to the accused.A case has been registered under relevant sections and further investigations were underway, the SP added. (UNI)
