Bengaluru, Sep 18 : The Congress Legislative Party in Karnataka, which met here on Wednesday resolved to launch an agitation against the state as well as Union government for its failures in announcing flood relief package to the displaced people in the state.
The unprecedented floods and rain affected 15 out of the 30 districts in the state. The meeting chaired by former chief minister and CLP leader Siddaramaiah had resolved that both the State as well as the Union government had failed to take measures to rehabilitate thousands of people who had been displaced in the recent floods and rains recently.
The members who spoke in the meeting criticised that state government saying that it was not ready to hold the winter session of the Legislature session in Belagavi in the North fearing to exposure of it's failures. The CLP had also passed a resolution urging the state government to convene the winter session at Belagavi at the earliest to debate over the plights of the people of the flood ravaged districts.
It was also resolved to protest against the Union government for targeting the Opposition leaders to harass them and implicating in false IT and ED related cases. (UNI)
