Flood threat once again looms large in river bank villages of Raichur

Yadgir, Sep 3 : Following heavy rains in Maharashtra, High quantum of water was discharged from Basavasagar reservoir at Narayanpur in Hunsagi Taluk in the District to the Krishna river after the reservoir received heavy amount of inflow from Almatti dam in Bagalkot district. According to the Krishna Bhagya Jala Nagam Ltd (KBJNL) sources 34,000 Cusecs of water was released on Tuesday while the same amount of water was the inflow into the reservoir. Officials opened 5 gates to discharge water to maintain the safety level. The present water level in the reservoir stood at 1614.93 ft against 1615 ft FRL.

Following this, flood threat once again loomed large in the river Bank villages of Raichur and Yadgir districts. Meanwhile Indian Meteorological department has predicted heavy to moderate rain at Krishna catchment area of Maharashtra on the next four to five days. The KBJNL source also said that the inflow into Almatti reservoir has also increased since Monday night and the inflow was recorded 26,158 Cusecs and same amount of water was released. UNI
