Minister orders temporary sheds to flood-hit in Karnataka

Belgavi, Aug 21 : Karnataka Minister Laxman Savadi today directed the officials to immediately construct temporary sheds to the affected in the recent Floods.
He was speaking at a review meeting after touring the affected places and Rehabilitation Centers where hundreds of affected people are taking shelter as their Houses have either collapsed or damaged and flood waters are yet to recede.
He said that the State government is ready to extend financial help if anybody want to construct their houses.

Savadi asked the officials concerned to immediately release the compensation amount to the affected without delay. "Officers concerned should visit the agriculture field and asses the crop loss without pressure or partiality.

He said that Officials should take it as a challenge and see that people affected does not suffer. The works on electrification, roads, hygenic measures should be taken on war footing.

Deputy Commissioner S B Bommanahalli said, Hundreds of kilometers roads, Bridges damaged due to unprecedented rain and floods in the district. Thousands of electrical polls have fallen and many villages have lost road connectivity. In all total 377 villages were affected in the district, 4,15 lakh people and 1.1 lakh domestic animals were shifted to safe places and provided shelter to 1.72 lakh people in 493 Flood relief centers.
