Flood situation grim in Raichur, Yadgir districts

Raichur/Yadgir, Aug 9: The flood situation continued to be grim in Raichur and Yadgir districts even as the water released from Narayanpur Basava Sagar Reservoir into the Krishna river decreased on Friday. Yadgir Deputy Commissioner M Kurama Rao said Aikur-Hayyal village road submerged and the village has lost road connectivity and the newly constructed foot bridge across the Krishna for residents of Neelkantarayanagaddi is also facing threat of submersion.

The inflow into reservoir was 3.18 lakh cusecs and out flow was maintained at 2.38 lakh cusecs. In Devadurgea and Linagasuguru the situation was improving as discharge from Narayanpur reservoir has been decreased. Raichur district administration has opened gruel centres at Mydaragol, Gurjapur and Anjal village. Various voluntary organisations have joined hands with the Administration in providing assistance.UNI
