Belagavi, Aug 8: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has promised to extend all-cooperation to assist the Karnataka Government in tackling the severe flood situation which has badly affected 15 districts in North, coastal and hilly districts coming under Western Ghats in Karnataka districts.
According to official sources, the Union Defence minister had promised the State Government of despatching more rescue teams as well as ten helicopters to be deployed in the flood relief operations.
In his telephonic talk with the Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, the Union Minister promised to send more number of Central rescue teams by evening, the sources said.
The Chief Minister, who is touring flood-hit Bombay-Karnataka districts, today visited several areas in Belagavi city where some areas got submerged and heard the grievances of the flood affected families.
Several MLAs, representing Belagavi district, including Umesh Katti, were also present on the occasion. (UNI)
