Dharwad, Aug 7 : A rescue team comprising of officials who went to rescue a man stuck in the overflowing Tuppari Halla stream were themselves struck as the place where they went was marooned overnight and were rescued by another team on Wednesday.
According to sources, last night the team comprising of District Assistant Commissioner Mohammad Zubair, a police officer and fire fighters ventured to rescue one Basavanappa Hosur where people were who was struck at a elivated land as Tuppari Halla at Shirkol village in Navlgund taluk in the District was overflowing,
However, the seven-member team after rescuing Basavanappa Hosur were returning when their boat got struck in flood waters. As water level was on the rise, the fire fighters tied the boat and returned to a higher place from where Basvaneppa was rescued.
The team was forced to spend the entire night in the cold and relentless rain without food. On getting information another boat from Bagalkote reached the spot and rescued them, official sources said. (UNI)
