Speaker refuses to allow more time for floor test debate: Report

Agency News

The Karnataka assembly proceedings restarted at 3.30 pm after adjournment. Soon after the Speaker adjourned the Assembly session, Congress leaders went to the KR Ramesh office requesting to allot more time for the floor test debate. “Speaker will take a call on confidence motion. We have already told that we will prove the confidence in Vidhana Soudha. Case is pending in Supreme Court. We have also filed the petition, most probably tomorrow Supreme Court will hear our plea,” Congress Legislative Party leader Siddharamaiah said to buy more time on account of trust vote debate.

However, some TV reports have indicated that the Speaker did not agree to the request and may plan to conclude the debate by 6:00 pm and hold the floor test.

The Congress-JD(S) coalition’s tally currently stands at 102 after 15 legislators tendered their resignation. The Opposition BJP now has 107.
