Nearly 100 BJP legislators under the leadership of former CM BS Yeddyurappa spent a night in Karnataka Assembly on Thursday protesting the Speaker Ramesh Kumar’s move to adjourn the assembly till Friday 11 AM without conducting the trust vote.
The MLAs were served Masala Dosa and curd rice. They also slept on the green carpet of the assembly. Many went to sleep early after a long day in the House due to heated exchanges and acrimonious scenes in the House.
The BJP has accused Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) government of dragging its feet on the floor test, despite being moved the motion by CM HD Kumaraswamy. The assembly will resume operations at 11am on Friday. Governor Vajubhai Vala has already given ultimatum to the CM Kumaraswamy to prove majority on the floor of the House by 1.30 pm on Friday. But it is learnt that CM Kumaraswamy and Congress may approach the Supreme Court against Governor’s ultimatum alleging infringement on Speaker’s power.
