Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has resigned as chief minister on Monday after a crisis loomed following the resignation of all Congress MLAs including the ministers.
After knowing that a majority is beyond his reach, HD Kumaraswamy submitted his resignation to the Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala. A last minute attempt to solve the crisis by both HD Kumaraswamy and his father and Janata Dal leader HD Deve Gowda had failed miserably on Sunday.
Congress leader DK Shivkumar has also failed to stop Congress MLAs from submitting their resignations. The JDS-Congress government has turned into a minority government once 14 Congress MLAs submitted their resignations. Soon after, all Congress MLAs submitted their resignations.
