Bengaluru, July 7: Former Karnataka Chief Minister and Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah has convened a meeting of party Legislators on July 9 to iron out the present crisis.
According to party sources, a whip has been issued to all the party Legislators to attend the meeting without fail. AICC General Secretary and Party-In-charge of Karnataka K C Venugopal, Senior Congress leader Mallikarjuna Kharge, KPCC President Dinesh Gundu Rao and others will also attend the meeting which is said to be most crucial, in the context of the resignations of as many as 13 MLAs.
Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah, today claimed that he had established contact with five of the rebel MLAs, who had holed up in Mumbai and tried to convince them to change their mind on resignations. Maintaining that a few of the MLAs, who have resigned, have some grievances, which can be resolved, he however said that “there is no threat to the coalition government".
Senior Congress leaders, who had held several rounds of meetings on Sunday, had also summoned few of the MLAs, whose names are figured in the possible list of rebels and resign to their membership.UNI
