Agency News

Tumakuru, Jul 2 : In an attempt to douse the fire caused by dissident MLAs in Congress party that has posed a serious threat to the 13-month-old JD(S)-Congress coalition government, Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara said that senior ministers from the party were ready to make way to the disgruntled legislators.

Speaking to newsmen here on Tuesday, he said that “I am not aware about the reasons behind the resignations submitted by two Congress MLAs – Anand Singh and Ramesh Jarkiholi, to their membership in the Assembly”.He claimed that both the Congress MLAs, were constantly in touch with the BJP leaders in Karnataka.Dr Parameshwara also claimed that few of the BJP MLAs, who are not happy with the leadership of BJP Karnataka unit president B S Yeddyurappa were also in touch with the Congress.

However, he refused to give more details on it and stated that “Any ruling party will work out its own strategy to thwart Opposition parties moves”.Refuting the charge of the dissident Anand Singh that government had committed blunder on the issue of Land grant to the steel giant Jindal Steel Works, he said that “If Singh has any reservation on it, he could have presented his views before a Cabinet sub-committee”.
