Bengaluru, June 11: Expressing his dismay over non-representation to Muslim minority members in the Karnataka cabinet, JD(S) State President H Vishwanath urged Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to render justice to them by inducting at least one MLA during expansion.
Speaking to newsmen here on Tuesday, Vishwanath, who himself had expressed desire to join the cabinet, maintaining that the JD(S) had erred while forming the Coalition government in alliance with the Congress, by not inducting any member belonging to Muslim community, the JD(S) leader reminded that both in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, members belonging to Muslim minority were appointed to the post of Deputy Chief Minister.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given representation to the Muslim members in his cabinet, Former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa had also appointed Mamtaz Ali Khan as a cabinet minister in his government,” the JD(S) leader said.
Vishwanath, owning moral responsibility for the party's debacle in the recently concluded Lok Sabha election, in which former Prime Minister and JD(S) National President H D Deve Gowda himself was defeated by a BJP candidate in Tumakuru Lok Sabha seat, had resigned from the President post. (UNI)
