Karnataka requests state Governor to get release of water from Koyna

Bengaluru, June 8: Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today sought the intervention of Governor Vajubhai Vala to get the release of water from Maharashtra to the State.
According to official sources, the Chief Minister, who had met him in Raj Bhavan on Saturday to get the date for his Cabinet expansion appealed to the Governor to ask the Maharashtra government to release water from Koyna Reservoir to mitigate the urgent drinking water need of several villages in Belagavi district.
Chief Minister also brought to the notice of the state government’s efforts with the Maharashtra government for release of water.
Legislators from Belagavi district are mounting pressure on the state government for the release of water from Koyna to Krishna river.
