Ramanagara, Karnataka, May 25 : Maintaining that continuing the alliance with the JD(S) would prove disastrous to the Party, Congress MLC C M Lingappa has favored severe the ties.

Speaking to newsmen at the party office here on Saturday, Lingappa said that “Congress had made a biggest blunder by aligning with the JD(S)”. Referring to the Congress party’s poor show in the Lok Sabha election, he said that “Party had never witnessed such a worst result in the history of electoral politics”.

Attacking some of the State party leaders who are responsible for hammering out an understanding with the JD(S), he expressed anguish that “some of them are very much power hungry and never bothered about the party’s interest”.

Finding no fault with the State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which is trying to topple the coalition government, he said that “When the party having 37 MLAs are in power, it is but natural for the BJP which is having a strength of 105 MLAs to bounce back to power”.

The Congress member of the upper house also complimented the independent candidate Sumalatha Ambareesh, who successfully fought and won the Mandya Lok Sabha seat defeating powerful JD(S) candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy. She made it possible as some of the Congress leaders also lent their support, he added.
