Bengaluru, Apr 6: Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader and former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today warned Congress party leaders in the districts who indulge in anti-party activities and working against coalition partner JD(S) candidates in the ensuing Lok Sabha election. His warning comes on the back drop of several Congress leaders and workers openly expressing their disappointment against fielding JDS candidate Nikhil K, son of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and grand son of former Prime Minister H D Devegowda from Mandya Lok Sabha seat.

Some of the leaders and workers in the district had dared to state that they will participate in the campaign of Independent candidate Sumalatha Ambareesh by holding Congress flags. Taking strong exception to party workers and leaders supporting independent candidate Sumalatha who is supported by the BJP in Mandya, Siddaramaiah told newsmen here on Saturday, “those who want to work against the coalition candidates may leave the party. Their indiscipline and indulging in anti-party activities will not be tolerated.”

“The decision to give Mandya Lok Sabha seat was taken by AICC President Rahul Gandhi and Devegowda and it should be honoured to protect the ethics of Coalition,” he added. Replying to a question about his sour relationship with JDS leader and Minister for Higher Education G T Devegowda, who defeated him in Chamundeshwari constituency in 2013 Assembly election, Siddaramaiah said that “that is a past story and closed chapter. Now I am in talking terms with him and even last night also I spoke to him over phone.”

When asked about possibility about the disgruntleness spreading to neighbouring Mysuru-Kodagu Lok Sabha seat and uncertainty over Congress Candidate Vijaya Shankar’s victory, Siddaramaiah said that that “virtually in the 2014 Lok Sabha election itself we had defeated Pratap Simha, he got elected only because of Modi wave existed at that time, but this time there is no any sort of wave and Vijaya Shankar will win and all the leaders of both Congress and JDS will work for his victory,” he added.
