Bengaluru, Mar 31 : AICC President Rahul Gandhi today gave a call to all forces opposed to the BJP to unite and take a cue from Janata Dal (S) and Congress coalition Government in Karnataka to defeat communal forces and anti-people policies unleashed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi government at the Centre for the past five years.
Speaking at the ‘Samaja Parivartana Samavesha’ organised by the two coalition partners in the State where both Mr Rahul Gandh and JD(S) Supremo H D Devegowda shared dias for the first time, Mr Gandhi said the coalition government had exhibited the intent on how the downtrodden, especially the poor farmers in the country can be uplifted, while the BJP government led by Modi was more interested in helping the 15 rich businessmen at the cost of common people.
He said the ‘Make in India’ or Startup India programmes of the BJP government had been a failure due to corruption and if Congress comes to power at the Centre post 2019 elections, the young entrepreneurs in all sectors will get a free passage to start their business and also the government will ensure they get bank loans without any hitch.
He said poor families getting Rs 72,000 per annum will boost the economy and his promise stands. Modi went against his promise of putting Rs 15 lakh in every poor man’s account before coming to power five years ago and all his promises went haywire.
‘’Wrong policies like demonetization, faulty implementation of GST had caused a tragedy among poor and small businesses while the Modi government achieved nothing. GST had five slabs including backbreaking 28 per cent tax. When we come to power we will completely change GST regime and it will be one tax, simple tax and pro-people tax for the well being of all sections of the society,’’he said.
